Abstract. The article is devoted to research in the field of psychophysiology memory. The paper presents the results of a study by the method of electroencephalography brain electrical activity during the engagement of modality-specific memory. The Research consisted in studying the process of development and formation of engrams (memory traces) in a cerebral cortex on the basis of the analysis of the basic characteristics of an alpha-rhythm, which is a key indicator of electrical activity in the cerebral cortex during cognitive activity of actualization of consciousness.
