PERSONAL DOUBLE THOUGHT AS A USEFUL RESULT OF SELF-KNOWLEDGE
Abstract. The article regards the term «double thought», initially introduced by J. Orwell. It describes an inner world of a person, who lives in a totalitarian state. Taking into consideration the complexity of the modern conditions, the author of the paper recommends the free-will and conscious adoption and practicing of the double thought techniques for an informed individual. In particular, this should be done in order to escape from various non-productive ideological conflicts. The author gives numerous proofs and examples in favor of the human psyche natural proneness to double thought (and to «multiple thought» in general). Moreover, the presence of different points of view on one and the same phenomenon may be associated with a psychological flexibility – a very useful human trait in the modern epoch.
